Most Creeping Thyme varieties available (sold as) seeds are typically wild species, which generally produce a plant which at first is quite encouraging, however, before long, plants of the wild Creeping Thyme varieties generally get quite sparse (after the first Summer), become woody with limited regenerative tendencies and often much reduced flowering intensity. Creeping Thyme itself encompasses a collection of wild species of Thyme from the Thymus genus, a relatively dense prostrate (low-growing groundcover) with tiny pink or purple flowers that generally first emerge with the onset of Spring. Creeping Thyme is not just, creeping thyme.
